David Cole
Rabbi's Assistant
David Cole is the first member of his family in three generations to return, however imperfectly, to the derekh of Torah.

Ashkenaz on his mother's side but raised in a household that didn't concern itself with G-d or His Messiah, he came to faith in Yeshua in 1998 after an eye-opening and tearful encounter with the One Who made the universe, and within a few years was steadfastly seeking to know more about the observances of his, and his Messiah's, heritage. Today, he gives thanks that many members of his family have found their own ways to faith in Hashem.
David began attending Shammash Ariel in 2013. Now, he can't imagine attending anywhere else, and he's blessed to serve in a layman's capacity as a chazzan before the bimah.
By trade a computer programmer, by hobby a fiction writer with an interest in languages, he's fond of reminding his fellow congregants that new skills come from effort and practice, not from innate talent. As Rabbi Marks likes to say, "Do be do be do." Whether it's the mitzvot or knowledge of Hebrew, there's no substitute for doing, and by doing, we become. David hopes his imperfect being might become more perfect by walking in faith along the path that Hashem has laid out for us.
