Kacy Hurst

Rabbi's Assistant

Kacy grew up in Oklahoma in a military family. His life took a career change about two years ago (beginning of 2021) when he decided to drop everything and become a full-time student at The King's University (TKU) in Southlake, Texas. The goal is to use the Bachelor's degree in Messianic Judaism and Biblical Studies to enter a Messianic Yeshiva one day. Until then, he eagerly serves the Messianic community in Pueblo, Colorado. When the decision was made to attend school, the opportunity to shadow Rabbi Michael Marks was extended and accepted. So for the past two years of attending online classes at TKU and shadowing the Rabbi, Kacy has been able to experience the ministry field and grasp a first-person understanding of serving others.

Kacy enjoys thought-provoking conversations and tons of rabbit trails! One of his favorite books from TKU is “Jesus and the Forces of Death: The Gospels’ Portrayal of Ritual Impurity within First-Century Judaism” by Matthew Thiessen. From the studies with Rabbi, the most impactful book has been "Chofetz Chaim A Lesson A Day: The Concepts and Laws of Proper Speech Arranged for Daily Study" by Rabbi Shimon Finkelman and Rabbi Yitzchak Berkowitz.

Kacy views life's lessons as essential and says, “When we learn how to learn, we can start seeing results in our faith in Yeshua. Because it's not how you start that is important, it's how you finish.” His prayer for you is to finish strong in your search for God. Because when you search and find God, the next step is to explore and understand what God is telling you. Kacy welcomes you to Shammash Ariel and looks forward to helping you with where you are in your journey serving God.
